So, last night I sat down to watch “Rosie, Live!“. I had seen the promos and all the plugs on the daytime talk shows. I could say that I was a little excited, mostly because of the guest list, but all the same excited. But this show was atrocious!
We started off the show with a monologue from Rosie doing some bit about her weight and her “Spanx” underwear. I believe she called them, “Onsies for fortysomethings…”. I’m pretty sure we’ve heard all this before…on The View. We then move onto Liza Minelli…she came out of the ground like a zombie of the living dead. The woman has been able to sing and it was good to see that she’s still got it, but how can we miss you if you never go away? Retirement is not a death certificate.
Alec Baldwin came out and proceeded to talk into Rosie’s cleavage, can anyone say awkward? And Conan O’Brien came out with a pumpkin pie which eventually landed in his face. It felt like a really bad version of The Carol Burnett Show, which NBC has been comparing “Rosie Live” to.
I do have to say that it wasn’t all horrible. The tap dancing twins were entertaining, and Jane Krakowski’s product placement dance was a bit funny/cheesy. I have to say that Rosie is a great personality, but she’s gotta keep the stabs at bay. I’ve watched my fair share of Carol Burnett and I don’t remember her ever taking a political stab or any stab for that matter. It was just good “clean” fun.
Overall…the show was a flop. Even the celebrity guest list couldn’t save that show. Just because you have talent behind you, doesn’t make a show watchable. I say take it back to the drawing board and rework it.

I totally agree with you. I watched the show while I was surfing the internet. The show didn’t deserve my complete attention.
I you want something like Carol Burnett, the only way to do it is to rent or buy the DVDs of her shows. I think it will be a long time before someone fills Carols shoes.
hey kade! I happen to think Rosie is way cool. i watched bits of it while me and ethan were making dinner… it couldnt keep my attention and was to over the top.. i think it could have been really good IF, they had spent a little more time on it, tried not to plug NBC shows so much, and made things flow a little better. I am looking forward to the Ellen variety show coming up soon.. if the Rosie Live comes back, it needs re-worked big time.
